(CNN Philippines) Metro Manila – The Philippine Malditas came up clutch as they scored two goals late in the game for a 2-1 comeback victory over Nepal in the 2022 AFC Asian Women’s Cup on Saturday at the JAR Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Trailing almost the entire match after Nepalese striker Bimala Chaudhary scored a header goal in the ninth minute, the world no. 68 Malditas were determined down the stretch to avert an upset by the world no. 101 Nepal.
Midfielder Tahnai Annis delivered the Filipinas’ first goal in the 89th minute for the tie.
Substitute Camille Wilson gave the Malditas the win in the 92nd minute as she received a pass from the left flank of the field.
