(CNN Philippines) Metro Manila — The death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has reached 158, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Tuesday.
In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC confirmed 123 deaths, with the remaining 35 still for validation. Most of the deaths to be validated are from Calabarzon.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has the most deaths (63), followed by Western Visayas (34), and Calabarzon (20).
The agency also tallied 142 injuries and 34 missing individuals.
Disaster management officials said over 4.6 million people or around 1.3 million families were affected by the tropical cyclone.
Paeng damaged 53,210 houses, of which nearly 5,000 were totally destroyed.
