(CNN Philippines) Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 5) – The country logged 9,055 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,613,070.
This is the first time since August 10 that the daily case tally was below 10,000. But the Department of Health (DOH) said the relatively lower count is due to lower laboratory output last Sunday.
The latest DOH bulletin also showed active cases or people currently sick dropped to 103,077 – with 78.8% experiencing mild symptoms, 11.4% asymptomatic, 5.65% having moderate symptoms, 2.9% severe, and 1.2% in critical condition.
Meanwhile, 12,134 more patients recovered, raising the survivor count to 2,613,070.
The death toll stayed at 38,828 as no new fatalities were reported due to technical issues with the data repository system COVIDKaya.
The DOH also said 25 duplicates were removed from the total case count, including 21 are recoveries.
