(GMA News) Opposition coalition 1Sambayan on Tuesday called out former senator Bongbong Marcos for spreading lies and historical distortions about martial law as he seeks the presidency in Eleksyon 2022.

Bongbong, son of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, formally announced that he will run for president in next year’s polls.

He said he will “bring back a unifying form of leadership in the country.”

For 1Sambayan, Bongbong had been revising the real events of his father’s reign as dictator “through the use of paid internet trolls and the exploitation of the flaws of social media.”

The coalition also maintained that Marcos is not the hero, adding that the his regime was not the “Golden Era” of the country.

“It is by all means the exact opposite,” 1Sambayan said in a statement.
